"Morbid Mind"

HALLOWEEN POETRY by Sidney Leite, US Faculty

Morbid thoughts in a morbid mind

Even as I watch your carcass lie

As that of any other in mankind

Empty, cold, not knowing why

Your hands no longer caress

Your eyes no longer in distress

My gaze rests upon you now

As a vulture ready to come down

My hunger is strong and such

That only flesh, not a touch

Can satisfy my crave

To see you forever in a grave

Tell me now, tell me how you feel

Do you live or exist in this box of steel?

Tell me now, tell me how it felt

To lose it all as you fervently knelt!

“I am no longer, as you are not

My spirit is stronger, e’er distraught

My pain is foreign, my heart silent

I am dead and my regrets, violent!”

Violins playing in the dark

Playing sounds of the purest mark

The Mark that forever condemns

As lost souls to Him sing hymns.
