WORD ART by Srinika Saravanamuthu, Middle School
I look into the sky
Wondering how it could be
If I could fly
Seeing lights in the distance
Sometimes I forget my own existence
Problems I face
And the dreams that I will chase
Tumbling down a tornado of emotions
I look into the sky
Wishing I could fly
A faraway land
From which I can stand
Briefly I close my eyes
Not knowing I was wise
Sharing a delusion with myself only
I look into the sky
Forcing myself to fly
Staring at the birds
While they call me absurd
Seething with emotion
I turn and walk away
I stare into the sky
Telling myself not to fly
For there’s a world that I’m in
And if and when
I feel down
I will always tell myself
‘Never forget yourself’
